New Starters 2024

Welcome to Boughton Heath Academy

We are delighted to welcome all new families who will be joining us in Reception from September 2024.

We know what an important milestone starting school is, and will make the transition into Boughton Heath as easy as possible through a high quality induction and welcome. This transition will be eased by parent information events, stay and play sessions, our staff visiting any nursery setting your child may attend and a staggered start into school during the first few days of your child's journey with us. Details of this transition have been sent out to all families already, but can be seen in the graphic below.

Parent information event

On 18th June, we will be holding a parent information event at school. We will talk about school life, items and clothing required, routines and will introduce ourselves. This event is for parents and gives you the opportunity to ask questions, meet your child’s teacher for September and view their classroom environment. At this meeting, we will allocate groups for the staggered start in September.

Nursery visits

If your child attends nursery, staff will complete a nursery visit to build up a picture of your child’s likes, interests and abilities. These visits help us get to know your child so we can ensure they make the best possible start to life at Boughton Heath. Please complete the section of the data form (sent alongside our welcome letter to you already) giving nursery settings permission to share information with us as we are unable to visit your child’s nursery without this.

Stay and play

On the 9th July, you and your child will be invited into school for a fun filled play session in their newclassroom. There will be morning and afternoon sessions for each date and you will be able to sign up for a session during the newstarter meeting on 18th June. During these sessions, children will also be given a welcome pack from school.

September staggered start

In September, children will join school through a staggered start. This makes the process of starting school less daunting. We split the cohort into 2 groups and they will stay for a morning or afternoon session before completing a full day together. Furthe details of groupings will be sent to you in due course.

Data capture form

All families have now received a welcome letter and data capture form. Please complete all sections of this form in full and return it to us via the above new starter email. We would gratefully ask you complete this in full as soon as possible given the importance of the information required.

Further information and questions

Copies of all documentation will be sent to new parents via email, however you can also download copies by selecting the required item at the bottom of this page.  we also understand that you will no doubt have lots of questions for us. Most of these questions will be answered in the events listed above and through the resources available online, however if you still have questions or queries please feel free to email them to us at our dedicated mailbox; newstarters@boughtonheath.cheshire.sch.uk. These will be passed on to the relevant staff member who will then communicate with you directly. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us with any queries, our priority is to ensure your transition to school is as easy as possible.
